Man on Fire

Man on fire starts out great. Really great. The movie takes it’s time: The characters are fully realized with enough back-story to give them motivation and depth, but not so much that they lose all mystery. Christopher Walken does a very good job of playing Christopher Walken. The main character is creative and violent and determined on revenge.

Then the movie whizzes it all down its leg.

I’m not going to reveal the plot of the 3rd act, after all I would still recommend seeing the movie, but the motivations get muddied and the movie just goes on coast. It’s like the studio grabbed the reins at the end. It’s a real shame. We were having a great time.
